Chrysler supplies the Jeep Grand Cherokee with engines designed exclusively for these SUVs. The atmospheric 6-cylinder V-shaped gasoline unit is the Pentastar. The 8-cylinder Hemi has hemispherical combustion chambers and direct fuel injection. A distinctive feature of the Hemi V8 is the presence of a cylinder change system. At stable speed or at idle, half of the cylinders stop, reducing fuel consumption and extending engine life. An alternative to gasoline is a turbo diesel CRD with 5 cylinders.

Jeep Compass

Just as a tourist compass is able to take you out of the dense wilderness, so the Jeep Compass will take you out of impenetrable terrain. This compact crossover will provide you with absolute comfort. Jeep Compass is an example of a good experiment that became successful, got its distribution and won recognition among the people.

Model Development

The Jeep Compass first appeared 4 years before series production as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show. It was a two-door all-wheel-drive crossover with a V6 under the hood. In 2006, the production of cars from the assembly line for the 2007 financial year began. For a decade, until 2017, the first generation of the model was produced. This generation was equipped with a 2.0 or 2.4-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine or a turbocharged diesel 2.2 L.

The second-generation Jeep Compass hit the public in 2017. The appearance has changed absolutely. The car has become similar to other models of the brand – Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. The almost vertical slope of the massive hood and front bumper, the rectangular shape of the headlights, a minimum of embossed details on the body, angular wheel arches and the underside of the body in a different color are the most noticeable differences from its predecessor. The range of engines for the Jeep Compass added turbocharged gasoline units with a volume of up to 2 liters.

Equipment

Jeep Compass is available in four trim levels – Sport (base), Latitude, Limited Trailhawk. A gasoline 2.4 L or a turbocharged gasoline 1.4 L engine, accompanied by an automatic transmission, is installed in the basic version. Front or full drive to choose from.

Jeep Compass Latitude and Limited versions have similar driving characteristics but a more luxurious interior. Highlights include a sunroof, intricately patterned alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, and so on. The Compass Trailhawk package is designed for the most daring – the all-wheel drive is constantly on, the transmission has 9 steps, the satellite navigator indicates the road, and the climate control creates comfort in two zones.

When choosing jeeps in Indianapolis, think about our dealership. At Indy Auto Man, we have new vehicle arrivals each week, you’ll definitely find what you want.

Engines

Under the hood, the Jeep Compass can be either a simple naturally aspirated Tigershark 2.4L or a turbocharged FIRE 1.4L. Both are Fiat designs. The Tigershark is a 4-cylinder twin camshaft unit with a MultiAir valve control system that applies to all units in the range.

Price Range

The model meets high competition in the States from Ford, Nissan, Toyota, Honda and other concerns. Therefore, it is $3,000-4,000 cheaper. Even though the second generation is produced in Italy, China and India. The new crossover in Sport trim costs $ 24,500 in Indianapolis showrooms, while at our used car dealership in Indianapolis, you can find a 2017 Jeep Compass Sport with 40,000 miles in perfect condition for $16,500 or a similar one, as the assortment is constantly updating.

Why Is a Used Jeep Better than a New One?

If you are looking for jeeps in Indianapolis, it will be a good idea to consider pre-owned vehicles. Such cars can bring you considerable benefits, such as:

  • Price. It is one of the main incentives for buying a used car. If finances (and maybe other considerations) do not allow you to take a new model, then you can choose a two-three-year-old car in the secondary market. In this case, the price will be significantly lower while maintaining the level of comfort and quality.
  • Availability of required models. The used car market allows you to buy the model that has already been discontinued. If you prefer some model but cannot find it in the dealership – it has already gone through restyling and is not at all the one that you like – the chances are good that at Indy Auto Man, you will find the one you need in good condition.
  • Quality. The vector of the car industry is aimed at making everything cheaper. If you don’t like eco-leather and plastic, take a look at the models of previous years, where you can find natural materials of high quality.
