GMC Terrain Vs. Chevy Equinox: So Different Twins

GMC Terrain is a mid-size crossover, officially presented exclusively in the North American market. Initially, the model was developed by the General Motors concern as a military vehicle. The development turned out to be budgetary and could not compete with the Hammer, but the modified civilian version became quite popular.

The Equinox is the best-selling Chevrolet crossover in the US market.  By its characteristics, this is a full-fledged SUV, which is perfect as a family car.

Technically, the Terrain is the Equinox twin with the same interior and driving stuffing, but with a completely different appearance.

• Terrain received from Equinox not only the GM Theta platform but also a similar line of engines and automatic transmissions. The only difference is the number of speeds: six for the Equinox, nine for the Terrain.
• You will not find the difference between Equinox and Terrain if you open the hood, climb under the bottom, or sit inside the cabin. The only difference on the inside of the cars is the backlight color – the Terrain has red, while the Equinox has blue.

Another difference between these cars is the price. On average, Terrain is more expensive than Equinox by $2,000 – 2,500.

You can find a used GMC Terrain in one of the following configuration options: SL, SLE, SLT, and DENALI.

• The list of basic equipment includes IntelliLink multimedia system complete with 7-inch or 8-inch touch screen, electric controls and heaters for the front row of seats, dual-zone climate control, wood and aluminum inserts in the cabin; push-button gear change, as well as activation of the parking brake.
• With more expensive trims, you can additionally get Bose acoustics system, satellite navigator, rear door with the electric drive, heated steering wheel.

The Chevrolet Equinox comes in four trims: L, LS, LT, and Premier.

The base Equinox L model is well-equipped with amenities and technical capabilities, making it a great starting point in this lineup. However, you opt for Premier if you want the full suite of Chevy features such as:

• navigation system;
• ventilated front seats;
• heated rear seats;
• panoramic sunroof;
• active safety features: collision warning, lane departure warning, and a 360-degree parking camera, and others.

The design of both cars attracts a lot of attention. Creators have tried their best to give the brothers their own body features.

• The Equinox has a smoother design with graceful and curved lines, giving it some kind of cosmic look.  The Equinox is Chevrolet’s answer to the compact SUV challenge. The modern Equinox stands up well to the competition in terms of dynamics and equipment, adding an almost exclusive offer in the form of a diesel engine.
• The Terrain has a more square, chopped shape, sharp corners, in line with GMC pickups. GMC cars in the hierarchy of the General Motors concern play in the semi-premium league: they are richer equipped than Chevrolet models but still inferior to premium Cadillacs.

The Equinox and Terrain are decent SUV models that will give you a lot of pleasure. The Equinox can offer better active safety features and a more compact appearance. The Terrain can boast a nine-speed automatic and the availability of an AWD version.
