INDY ARTS FEST: BY ARTISTS FOR INDY

LABOR DAY, 2021, 11AM-7PM
3130 Madison Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227

INDY RACES, INDY SHOOTS HOOPS… and INDY ARTS

Indy Arts Fest has the goal to highlight Indy art talent. 2021’s event will focus on showcasing Indy muralists, street performers, artist vendors, and musicians. 6 muralists will each live paint a 8x12ft mural. Koda Witsken will have painted over 100ft of murals on the main building before the event. By empowering local artists, Indy Auto Man is sponsoring an important Hoosier economic sector (arts & culture) and nurtures an economic asset unique to Indianapolis (independent artists).

WHY DOES THIS FESTIVAL EXIST?

According to the Indiana Arts Commission, Indiana’s creative economy primarily consists of self-employed individuals. Indiana’s high level of independent artists differs from national trends, which show a reliance on more corporate and payroll-based artists. We have a unique artistic well of talent that we should be proud to showcase. Go Indy, go artists! Despite our uniquely strong presence of self-employed artists, Hoosier artists’ wages lag behind the U.S. average. Indiana’s highest-paid creative industry workers make less than half the average U.S. wage for their field. So, to highlight the best art of Indy, and to support artists in earning fair pay for their talents, we created Indy Arts Fest to bring exposure and paid opportunities to local artists.
