As part of a nationwide effort to establish a network of at least 500,000 dependable electric vehicle chargers across the United States, Indiana's Department of Transportation is allocating nearly $100 million through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program. This investment aims to create a network of EV charging at key locations along Indiana’s interstates and highways, referred to as Indiana’s Alternative Fuels Corridors. State officials have indicated that the objective is to provide a charger every 50 miles along these corridors in accordance with federal build-out requirements.
Unfortunately, there isn't a single map yet that displays all available charging stations, complicating the process of counting them. While the U.S. Department of Energy's map covers most chargers, mobile navigation apps like Apple Maps and Google Maps feature different sets of charging locations. Furthermore, not all electric vehicles use the same type of charger, so users are recommended to carry an adapter when traveling.
